The Solstice
Description
The Solstice is a space station in loose orbit around Xonus Z3C. It was originally meant to be a space colony, strategically placed in a high traffic sector. Unfortunately, the Solstice was fated for a much darker future. Criminals arrived early in the colony's life and waged war. The innocent were slaughtered and a tyrant took the throne. The station was turned into a center for criminal activity. Rival gangs moved in, claiming neighborhoods. Brothels, bars, apartments, fight clubs, nightclubs, factories powered by slave labour.
There were hundreds of homeless people and others less undesirable. Sex was dirt cheap in all the worse places, the safest and best located in the brothels. Drug addicts were usually strewn across the roads, and allies, though there was always a safer place for an otherworldly high. The criminal rate of the station was high, meaning most unsuspecting wanderings were more likely to be kidnapped, trafficked off, held for ransom, or forced into slave labor. The crime lord, Kakaayuv Drahmu, owner of the station, is located at the heart of the colony in the most popular nightclub aptly named The Solstice.
The station has a half mile long diameter at its thickest. This frisbee shaped disc is the main area of the station, giving it a round layout. The disc is attached to a mile long spire at the center which is used as the structural integrity for artificial gravity, and solar power generation.
The disc is the thickest portion of the station which is open on the side, protected by a kinetic shield, giving the station a deep violet hue. Each wedge of the eight is separated and marked off as individual landing bays which are always littered with ships from single pilot craft to those requiring a thousand people. Most of which are well protected cargo ships. The docking bays are the safest places on Solstice. The weak, and naive are recommended to stay here. Mercenaries hired by the crime lord guard each bay door, inspecting those that enter the city. They also patrol the streets and stand guard at key locations.
The rest of the city follows a circular plan. Some areas are well thought out, using a type of grid placement, while others are filled with mazes from poor planning. The outermost ring of buildings are possibly the most dangerous. This is where most come to hide and the unsuspecting get lost. Criminals run amok freely here along with most of the drug addicts. The further inward into the station, the nicer the area. Though none are crime free. There are well respected clubs within the central rings. Decent apartments, diners, cafes, public transportation. Buildings on top of buildings.
The innermost portion was where the Solstice Club was built. The largest nightclub on the station and the most popular. Most undesirables wait for weeks just to get into the place. You had to know someone to get into this place. Inside is a large dance floor with strobe lights, and smoke machines. There are nooks and crannies through the dance floor for those wanting to dance alone. A central bar stretches in a circle, with several bartenders and seemingly endless supply of the best drinks in the galaxy. A kitchen is tucked off out of sight, though the dining area is in front of it, across the club from the dance floor. Luxurious couches and tables are placed throughout the club along with small stages and poles for exotic dancers. The music is loud and thumping, the bass felt throughout the whole building and even outside of it.
Near the back are two flights of stairs that head up to a second floor which overlooks the first. More seating of tables, chairs, and couches. This is considered the VIP area of the club and only those with enough money, or of positive relations with the crime lord are permitted access. The stairs are guarded. The crime lord, Kakaayuv Drahmu has his own private room up here, tucked away by a mostly unnoticed door. Kakaayuv can be found on a makeshift throne of a U-shaped couch that overlooks the first floor. There are several guards stationed around him. He can often be found with women keeping him company.
