The Order of the Hunters

Description

The Order of the Hunters is at this rate, a sub-species of humans. As Hunters following a strict tradition, they barely branched out, though accepted anyone who could find them. Thanks to a desire for perfecting humanity, the Order dabbled in genetics to help kick start a new human that was stronger, faster, and smarter than the average human.

Hunters are born fighters and survivors. The moment they are born, they are taken from their parents and placed into a boot camp type scenario where they are raised by drill instructors until they are twenty years old. From there, hunter fledglings are given a final exam consisting of a scripted mission that is explosively interrupted by enemy Hunters come to kidnap young hunters. Here the fledglings are tortured. This weeds out the weak, placing them in job categories such as home, for more civilian styled jobs, or military. Fledglings either die, never see combat, go to combat, or become Alpha Hunters.

The Monarch is the public head of the Council, a group of Councillors who meet behind closed doors to write laws and make decisions while the Monarch speaks publicly for them. They reside on Rodora, a terrestrial planet in a binary system brimming with fantastical wildlife of great proportions. Rodora's capital is Ad Aesterium, a castle-like city over 700 sq. miles, where eleven million Hunters call home. Ad Aesterium is a conglomeration of ancient human cultures with a dash of new cultures that have risen up all across Rodora.

The Order mostly stays with itself, but has small colonies all across the galaxy. They still clash with Apex, but assure their presence and influence is known.

The culture of Hunters is not unlike that of civilians. While each of them are highly trained as soldiers, they carry on their lives living with families and communities. They are self-sufficient, preferring to keep their lives separate from civilians. Hunters range from being farmers to being entrepreneurs, pursuing a life of education to better not only themselves, but their communities, and all of mankind.

Hunters are humanists, believing only in the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.

The Council influences career choices, entertainment, and media in Dens, the towns and cities of Hunters. This allows children to be children while in school and not worry about their future until capable of making their own decisions. Many children are orphans adopted by the Council. These orphans are given parental figures, mostly in the form of drill instructors, but sometimes as adoptive parents. Children born into the Order, still form close bonds with their parents. Careers are selected for hunter graduates depending on test results over the last five years of their schooling. A career committee selects the best job for individual hunters, which usually aligns with passions. Hunters best suited to infantry roles are encouraged to enlist into neighboring civilian armies.

Entertainment and media is well controlled by the Council, promoting the good of the Order and keeping hunters informed of civilian happenings. I keep away children from entertainment, usually allowed a short amount of time to watch a selected movie, or a live action play, or band performance.

Unit Types

Recruits - Children, or otherwise boys and girls under the age of twenty-one, are referred to as recruits.

Hunters - Hunters are adults over the age of twenty-one. Hunters fill general roles both within the military and outside of it.

Alpha Hunters - Alpha hunters are the most elite troops of the Order. They are hardcore soldiers who live extremely strict lives. Alphas are trusted with long-term classified missions that often leave them in the field without military support. They are primarily in pairs.

Praetorians - Praetorians are the police force of the military and civilian worlds. While not above the law, it can often be stretched for praetorians. They are well funded and well equipped with highly decorated armor and weapons.

Sagittarians - A special forces unit, Sagittarians are reconnaissance men and assassins. They are usually employed for short-term missions filled with months, or even years' worth of training before executing the operation.

Venators - A new unit for the Order, the Venators are a holy order. They follow a strict neo-Christian belief system where recruits are handpicked from standard classes based on genetics. Recruits are often taken away as babies and given genetic engineering and splicing to make them bigger and stronger. Venators believe they are angels of God's army and chosen to exterminate the threat posed by alpha hunters.

History

The Order of the Hunters keeps its history secret, it is possible this is due to evidence being lost to time and negligence. Like Apex, they operate with facts and usually act in defense of those unable to defend themselves. It can be believed that the Order has influenced wars, ideals, religions, and even cultures around all of Earth and may continue to do so in the future.
