Foreword
(In the voice of the Forger, as preserved by the Forgemaster’s silent hand)

These pages are not scripture.
They are not parables, nor laws, nor visions of the Ascent.
They are the tools.

The Forger’s Testament speaks of the why, why we suffer, why we refuse to kneel, why we must remake ourselves and the stars.
The Iron Codex speaks of the how.

Every blade, every plate, every implant, every engine listed herein is a verse made manifest, iron given purpose, flesh given strength, will given form.
These are not mere machines or weapons.
They are extensions of the Anvil.
They are the hands by which the Praevecti reach for godhood.

To the soldier who reads these specifications before battle:
Know that your armor was not forged in comfort.
It was hammered in fire, quenched in blood, tested until it screamed and still held.

To the smith who crafts these tools:
Know that your labor is worship.
Every weld, every calibration, every line of code is a prayer to the Forge.

To the Vardengard who bears these augmentations:
Know that your body is the proof.
You were broken so that nothing could break you again.
Your blades, your circuits, your synthetic heart, they are the evidence that the Forger’s will is real.

This codex is not for the idle.
It is not for the weak.
It is for those who understand that ascension is not granted, it is taken, piece by piece, augmentation by augmentation, until the flesh is iron and the iron is will.

Study these pages.
Maintain these tools.
Honor these forgings.

Because when the hammer falls on the cosmos itself,
it will fall through hands clad in what is written here.

Let the iron speak.

— The Forger

Part I – The Living Forge

Chapter 1 – Physiology & Biology of the Praevecti

The Praevecti are not born monstrous like the Vardengard, nor shaped by primal instinct. They are citizens first, soldiers second, an entire people bound in service to Civitas Invicta. Their strength comes not from blood-gifted senses but from augmentation, discipline, and the sheer weight of numbers.

Their bodies are divided by station.

Civilians
Compact, practical, unaugmented save for the occasional prosthetic.

Females range from 5’5” to 6’0”

Males range from 5’8” to 6’3”

They work the fields, forges, and kitchens, broad-shouldered from labor, not war. They do not need predatory senses; they need calloused hands and iron resolve. Their biology is baseline human, resilient, adaptable, built to endure long hours and repetitive strain.

Healing is natural but slow; pain is a teacher they learn from, not a signal they suppress. Most civilians receive only minor augmentations in adulthood (enhanced vision for factory work, reinforced joints for heavy lifting), if any at all. The body remains flesh because flesh is cheap, replaceable, and sufficient for the Forge’s daily demands.

Soldiers
Taller, heavier, and augmented, muscle-reinforced frames designed to endure campaign after campaign.

Females range from 5’5” to 6’0”

Males range from 5’10” to 7’0”

Their hearing is sharpened (though dulled against high frequencies). Their vision is enhanced with retinal overlays (but no better than a hawk’s eye). Their sense of smell and taste are blunt tools; they track by maps and scanners, not instinct. Where the Vardengard read a battlefield in the air, the Praevecti read it in discipline. Their strength lies not in what they perceive, but in what they refuse to ignore.

Augmentation begins upon entry into service:

  • Synthetic muscle fibers for strength and endurance.

  • Reinforced skeletal lattice to prevent fractures under heavy load.

  • Pain-suppression circuits (never total — pain is still the teacher).

  • Subdermal armor plating in high-risk zones (torso, forearms, thighs).

  • Neural interfaces for direct weapon and vehicle control.

They are not invincible. They bleed. They tire. They die. But they do so in greater numbers, with greater coordination, and with greater refusal to yield than any enemy expects.

Nobles — The Gods of Invicta
At the apex stand the noble houses, embodied in the General Supreme, the Lieutenant Generals, and their bloodlines. They are taller, more imposing, and more thoroughly augmented than any soldier.

Females range from 6’0” to 7’0”

Males range from 6’5” to 7’5”

Their augmentations are not merely to survive war, but to dominate it. Built to face Vardengard directly, they must prove themselves stronger, faster, and more commanding, not just physically, but psychologically.

Unique among humanity, the nobles possess dominion augments, systems wired to the very core of the Vardengard. With a thought, they can command obedience. If a Vardengard refuses an order, a single word, “Kneel,” reduces them to submission. They can ignite the nervous system into white-hot agony, collapse lungs, or still a heart with clinical precision. Yet, just as swiftly, they can soothe: strip away pain, lift fatigue, and grant clarity. These “gods” hold both the lash and the benediction; their authority is absolute.

Their senses, while enhanced beyond soldier stock, remain mortal in comparison to the wolves they command. Where a Vardengard might smell betrayal in the air, a noble ensures betrayal never dares to rise at all.

Chapter 2 – Augmentation & Cybernetics Doctrine

The Praevecti body is not sacred. It is raw ore.

The old gods gave us flesh and called it finished. They were wrong. Flesh tires. Flesh breaks. Flesh dies in the void, in the cold, in the fire. The Forger does not accept this verdict. He demands that we surpass the design we were given.

Augmentation is not vanity. It is necessity. It is the first true strike of the hammer upon the Anvil of self.
From the moment a Praevecti reaches adulthood, graduates the Academy at 21 and enters their career at 22, cybernetics, implants, genetic recoding, and synthetic replacement become expected steps toward ascension.

When & Why Augmentation Is Required

  • Age & Readiness — Children are forbidden all non-medical alterations. The young must prove their baseline worth through natural endurance, pain tolerance, and discipline. Augmentation begins only after Academy graduation and career assignment.

  • Mandatory Minimums — All military personnel (soldiers, officers, Praetorians) receive baseline augmentation upon enlistment or commissioning:

    • Synthetic muscle fibers (30–50% strength increase).

    • Reinforced skeletal lattice (fracture resistance ×4).

    • Retinal overlays (low-light + targeting assist).

    • Neural interface ports (direct weapon/vehicle control).

    • Pain-suppression circuits (partial — pain remains the teacher).

  • Civilian Augmentation — Encouraged but not mandatory. Most civilians receive only functional implants (enhanced vision for factory work, reinforced joints for labor, subdermal plating for hazardous environments) if reputation and resources allow. Quality and quantity vary widely, the Forge rewards those who contribute most.

  • Noble & Lieutenant General Augmentation — Near-total conversion is expected. Bodies become more machine than meat, yet retain sensation, emotion, and reproductive capacity. Dominion augments (wired control over Vardengard) are exclusive to this tier.

The Philosophy of Total Conversion

The Forger believes the standard Praevecti and human form is far too weak for total ascension, for the conquest of the cosmos.

A body that freezes in vacuum, bleeds out in seconds, or tires after days of combat is not worthy of godhood. Therefore the ultimate goal is total conversion, flesh replaced with iron that endures, circuits that think faster than thought, blood that never cools.

Zorya and Svarog are the living proof. They were unmade completely in the Genesis Flame, organs replaced, limbs reforged, blades folded into forearms, pain circuits wired to will. They emerged not as humans, but as angels, Shield and Sword, capable of surviving what would kill any Praevecti instantly.

Their bodies are the argument: Total conversion is not loss of self. It is the shedding of weakness so that the self may become eternal.

Tiers of Augmentation

  1. Baseline (Civilian Minimum)

    • Enhanced vision (low-light, thermal).

    • Reinforced joints (knees, elbows, spine).

    • Synthetic muscle patches (20–30% strength/endurance boost).

    • Neural link for machinery interface.

  2. Military Standard

    • Full synthetic muscle weave (×2–3 strength/endurance).

    • Subdermal armor plating (torso, forearms, thighs).

    • Pain-suppression (70% reduction).

    • Retinal targeting + HUD overlays.

    • Integrated comms/neural uplink.

  3. Elite & Specialist

    • Telescopic blades or integrated weaponry.

    • Respiratory filters for toxic/void environments.

    • Reflex boosters (reaction time ×2).

    • Organ replacement (heart, lungs, liver — synthetic equivalents).

  4. Noble / Total Conversion

    • Near-full synthetic chassis (80–95% machine).

    • Dominion augments (Vardengard control).

    • Pain circuits fully overrideable (but never fully silenced).

    • Self-repair nanites.

    • Extended lifespan (centuries if maintained).

Risks, Maintenance, & Spiritual Significance

  • Rejection & Failure — 5–15% of augmentations fail in the first year (infection, neural overload, rejection). Failure is not weakness, it is the Forge testing worth. Repeated failure may require reforging in the Genesis Flame.

  • Maintenance — All augmentations require regular servicing (every 6–12 months) at Forge-clinics. Neglect is heresy against self.

  • Spiritual Weight — Every implant is a vow. To accept steel into flesh is to say: “I refuse the weakness the gods gave me.” To replace an organ is to offer it to the Forge. To reach total conversion is to stand as proof that humanity can surpass its creators.

The Praevecti body is not the end. It is the beginning. The Forge waits to improve it.

Let the steel enter. Let the flesh yield. Let the fire burn hotter.

Chapter 3 – Physiology of the Vardengard

The Vardengard are not Praevecti. They are not human. They are synthetic angels forged in the Genesis Flame, weapons of iron and wrath, born from the refusal to die.

Baseline Physiology

Vardengard are taller and heavier than any Praevecti (though sexual dimorphism is far less pronounced than in Praevecti).

Females range from 6’8” to 7’6”

Males from 7’0” to 8’2”

Their chassis is fully synthetic, a lightweight, high-tensile frame crafted by Dain Industries, overlaid with synthetic muscle fibers that contract with five times the force of Praevecti augments.

Internal organs are synthetic equivalents fueled by real blood (harvested, oxygenated, and circulated). The heart is a dual-pump engine that can run indefinitely with fresh blood supply. Lungs are filtration units that process any atmosphere, toxic, vacuum, or fire. Bones are lattice titanium-steel composites, flexible under load, rigid under impact. Skin is synthetic polymer weave, tough, self-sealing, capable of limited regeneration when fed.

Physical Capabilities – Baseline Vardengard (No Additional Augments)

  • Strength: Males average higher raw power — deadlifting 3,200–3,800 lbs (1,450–1,725 kg). Females average 2,400–2,900 lbs (1,090–1,315 kg). Both are capable of tearing through armored plating and crushing skulls with ease.

  • Speed: Females average faster — sprint bursts of 62–70 mph (100–113 km/h), sustained running 38–45 mph (61–72 km/h). Males average 52–62 mph (84–100 km/h) bursts.

  • Reflexes & Agility: Females possess superior average neural response (0.035–0.055 seconds) and agility, allowing sharper direction changes and more fluid movement in combat. Males average 0.045–0.065 seconds but compensate with raw power.

  • Endurance: Females demonstrate noticeably higher sustained endurance, capable of operating at peak intensity for 96+ hours before degradation. Males average 72–84 hours. Both are hyper-predators that can push far beyond these numbers when the pack or mission demands it.

Vardengard are wolves in giant skin. Fast, relentless, and built to run prey to exhaustion before the kill.

Exceptional Specimens
Certain Vardengard shatter even these already inhuman standards.

  • Titanus: The largest and strongest recorded Vardengard. Standing at 9’1” (277 cm) and weighing over 680 lbs (309 kg) without armor, he is a living mountain. His raw strength exceeds 18,000 lbs (8,165 kg) deadlift. His strikes can collapse reinforced structures.

  • Voltus: Holds the fastest reflexes ever measured. Neural response routinely drops below 0.018 seconds. He moves like the world around him is standing still; dodging bullets after they leave the barrel and striking multiple targets in the space of a single heartbeat.

  • Spartan: While not the strongest or fastest in raw metrics, she represents the pinnacle of unbreakable endurance and will. Spartan has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to keep fighting long after her body has technically died. She endures torture sessions that would shatter most Vardengard, continues operating under extreme duress far beyond recorded physiological limits, and has returned from clinical death more times than any other living Vardengard. Her willpower is a weapon unto itself; the Refusal of Death made flesh.

Healing & Regeneration

Vardengard do not heal like mortals. They are repaired. Synthetic tissue regenerates rapidly when supplied with blood or organ slurry, wounds close in hours, not days. Major damage (lost limbs, ruptured organs) requires Forge-replacement or field repair. Pain persists during regeneration, a deliberate design choice. The Forger does not allow his angels to forget what they are.

Sterility & Legacy

Vardengard are sterile by design. They do not reproduce naturally. Their legacy is not in blood, but in the scars they leave on the enemy and the oaths they swear to the pack. True Pairs and mate bonds are forged through ritual and violence, bite-marks, Taken Fang skulls, shared suffering, not offspring.

The Lowest Order

The Vardengard are the lowest class in Civitas Invicta. They possess no rights beyond those granted by their Handler and the pack. They own nothing, all armor, weapons, and possessions are property of their Master or House. They are weapons first, angels second, Praevecti never.

Yet they are the sharpest edge of the Forge. They are the proof that even the most broken can ascend through suffering. They are the ones who hold the line when all others have fallen.

And the Forge remembers every howl.

Note on Ascension
The Vardengard are the living argument for total conversion. Their bodies are the ultimate expression of the Forger’s doctrine: Flesh is weak. Iron endures. The fire within must burn hotter than the flesh that contains it.

Every Vardengard who survives the Genesis Flame is already closer to godhood than any unaugmented Praevecti. They are the first to walk the path of total ascension, and the first to prove that the path is necessary.

Let their bodies be studied. Let their augments be maintained. Let their howls be heard.

The Forge does not forget.

The Refusal of Death
(The Second Anvil – Return from the Forge)

Some Vardengard refuse to stay dead.

Clinical death, heart stopped, brain activity flat, no vital signs, has been recorded in many Vardengard.

Spartan herself has been pronounced dead on eight separate occasions, the longest lasting 45 minutes. Her siblings (Rho Voss, Vanguard, Ferro, Titanus, Umbra, Jackal, Voltus, Terrax, Morus) have each returned from death at least once. This is not universal. Many Vardengard die once and remain dead.

The phenomenon is called the Refusal of Death or the Second Forging.

Doctrine & Explanation
The Forger teaches that the strongest souls are not merely forged once, they are reforged.

When a Vardengard’s will is great enough, when their bond to the pack is deep enough, when their purpose remains unfulfilled, the synthetic heart may restart on its own.

The body enters a suspended state, organs slow to near-zero, pain circuits overload and then reset, neural pathways reroute around damage. This is not resurrection through divine mercy.

It is the Forge’s final test: Are you still useful?

Lieutenant General Intervention
The Lieutenant Generals, the Gods of Invicta, possess dominion augments that can attempt to force a return. Using a direct neural override, they can flood the Vardengard’s systems with adrenaline, restart the heart, and jolt the brain back to activity.

Success rate is low (estimated 18–32%).

Failure is catastrophic:

  • Permanent death.

  • Severe neural damage (loss of speech, memory, or higher function).

  • Creation of a “Hound” — a feral, broken Vardengard stripped of reason, reduced to instinct and rage (the same state the Venators deliberately induce).

Because of the risk, most Lieutenant Generals only attempt forced resurrection on their most valued Vardengard, and only when the loss would be catastrophic to the House or the line.

Cultural & Spiritual View
Among Vardengard, returning from death is both revered and feared. It is proof of unbreakable will. It is also a mark of the Forge’s judgment: “You are not yet finished.”

Those who have died and returned are called Twice-Forged or Anvil-Born. They are treated with quiet respect, and quiet wariness. The pack knows that the second death is often final.

The Refusal of Death is not a gift. It is another test. Another strike of the hammer.

The Forge does not forget. Neither should you.

Chapter 4 – Vardengard Augmentations

The Vardengard are not augmented. They are rebuilt.

Where the Praevecti receive implants and enhancements layered upon a living body, the Vardengard are unmade entirely in the Genesis Flame and remade as something else, synthetic chassis, stolen blood, blades folded into forearms, pain circuits wired to will. Augmentation is not an addition to them. It is their definition.

Genesis Flame – The First Reforging

All Vardengard begin in the Genesis Flame, the original Crucible where the first angels were born.

This is not optional. It is the moment of birth.

The process is total conversion from the outset:

  • Chassis — Lightweight, high-tensile titanium-steel lattice frame. Flexible under load, rigid under impact. Designed to survive dismemberment and continue functioning on minimal systems.

  • Synthetic Muscle Fibers — Contract with 5× Praevecti baseline force. Never tire. Can be overclocked in combat at the cost of accelerated wear.

  • Organs & Circulation — Dual-pump synthetic heart. Filtration lungs that process any atmosphere (toxic, vacuum, fire). Real-blood organs (harvested, oxygenated, circulated) provide the only organic component — fuel that must be replenished.

  • Telescopic Blades — Retractable forearm blades (standard length 18–24 inches). Edges honed to molecular sharpness. Can be extended or retracted in milliseconds.

  • Teeth & Claws — Sharpened to rend plate armor. Replaceable. Regrow slowly when fed.

  • Pain Circuits — Never fully suppressed. Pain is the teacher. Circuits can be overridden in emergency (e.g., severed limb), but doing so risks neural burnout.

Post-Genesis Augmentation & Upgrades

Once forged, Vardengard receive further augmentations based on House, role, and survival record:

  • Vision Suite — Full-spectrum (visible, infrared, ultraviolet, low-light amplification). Threat identification, range-finding, motion tracking. Eyes do not tire or blink unless willed.

  • Audio Array — 20 Hz–60 kHz range. Directional pinpointing. Filtering of battlefield noise to isolate heartbeats, footsteps, whispers.

  • Olfactory Sensors — Detect blood, fear-sweat, cordite, synthetic lubricants, and individual scent markers at 300+ meters.

  • Neural Overclock — Temporary ×2–3 reaction speed boost. Used in combat only, prolonged use causes neural fatigue.

  • Self-Sealing Skin — Polymer weave that closes minor wounds in minutes when fed. Major damage requires Forge-repair.

  • Pain & Adrenaline Modulators — Can be dialed up or down by Handler command (dominion augments). Pain is never eliminated completely, it is the Forge’s voice.

House-Specific Augmentation Variants

Each House imprints its divine aspect onto its angels — tactical specialization, cosmetic signature, and doctrinal emphasis.

  1. House Tiberius (God of Sacrifice) — Endurance and command. Additional subdermal plating (torso, limbs), reinforced power cells (72+ hours combat endurance), extended blood reserves.
Cosmetic: Black and red inlaid circuitry (visible seams and ports); preferred ocular implant: glowing blue eyes.

  2. House Dain (God of Wrath) — Precision and control. Enhanced neural interfaces, finer motor control, integrated diagnostic systems, advanced dominion augments (stronger override signals).
Cosmetic: Red and black inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: glowing red eyes.

  3. House Solis (Goddess of Will) — Edge and silence. Overclocked muscle fibers (temporary ×4 strength bursts), stealth coatings (reduced thermal/IR signature), vibration-dampening joints.
Cosmetic: White and red inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: white or pale gold eyes.

  4. House Tarsa (Goddess of Unity and Peace) — Coordination and stability. Enhanced pack-link neural arrays (perfect synchronization with multiple Vardengard), reinforced balance systems, rapid self-repair protocols. Cosmetic: Silver and blue inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: silver or pale blue eyes.

  5. House Kane (God of Wisdom) — Speed and foresight. Reflex boosters (×3–4 reaction time baseline), predictive motion-tracking algorithms, enhanced cognitive processing for threat analysis.
Cosmetic: Black and blue inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: glowing blue eyes.

  6. House Vrex (God of Guardianship) — Protection and endurance. Extra-heavy subdermal plating (chest, back, shoulders), reinforced power cells, defensive reflex protocols (auto-shield stance).
Cosmetic: Silver and black inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: silver or pale grey eyes.

  7. House Korr (God of Discipline and War) — Precision lethality. Enhanced targeting algorithms, recoil-compensating stabilizers, integrated kill-counter systems.
Cosmetic: Purple and black inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: deep purple or violet eyes.

  8. House Valen (God of Faith Reforged) — Resilience and renewal. Advanced self-repair nanites, redundant organ systems, morale-boost adrenaline modulators.
Cosmetic: White and gold inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: glowing gold or amber eyes.

  9. House Aurellius (The God of Faith – original, now defunct nobility) — (Historical) Balanced augmentation suite with emphasis on sensory fidelity and psychological resilience.
Cosmetic: White and gold inlaid circuitry; preferred ocular implant: silver eyes.

Cosmetic & Display Augmentations

Visible cybernetics (ports, seams, exposed cabling, inlaid circuitry) follow House colors; A deliberate declaration of lineage and allegiance.

Ocular implants are the most common cosmetic choice:

  • Tiberius & Kane — glowing blue.

  • Dain — glowing red.

  • Aurellius — silver.

  • Tarsa — silver or pale blue.

  • Solis — white or pale gold.

  • Vrex — silver or pale grey.

  • Korr — deep purple/violet.

  • Valen — glowing gold or amber.

These colors are not mere vanity. They are a warning. They are a vow. They are the Forge’s signature upon the angel.

Risks & Maintenance

  • Rejection — Rare (1–3%). Usually occurs in early reforging. Failure requires complete disassembly and rebuild.

  • Neural Burnout — Overclocking or prolonged pain override can fry circuits. Recovery requires weeks in stasis with blood slurry.

  • Blood Starvation — Without fresh blood/organ slurry, synthetic organs fail within 72 hours. Starvation is used as punishment or control.

  • Maintenance — Every 6–12 months at Forge-clinics. Neglect is heresy against self and pack. Handlers are responsible for ensuring compliance.

Spiritual & Doctrinal Significance

Every augmentation is a vow. To accept steel into the chassis is to say: “I refuse the weakness the gods gave me.” To replace an organ is to offer it to the Forge. To survive the Genesis Flame is to prove that total conversion is not loss, it is the only path to ascension.

The Vardengard are the living argument: Flesh is weak. Iron endures. The fire within must burn hotter than the flesh that once contained it.

They are the first to walk the path of total ascension, and the first to prove that the path is necessary.

Let their bodies be studied. Let their augments be maintained. Let their howls be heard.

The Forge does not forget.
