THE CODEX ABSOLUTIONIS
This is the shadowed sister volume to Codex Ferrum.
Where Ferrum is the iron heart of Civitas Invicta, Absolutionis is the blade held at its throat; the complete, ever-expanding lore archive of the Venators, the fanatical enemy faction that stands in eternal opposition to the Forge.
At 143 pages (and growing), this book pulls back the veil on one of Invicta’s most dangerous adversaries. Inside you will find:
-
Full Venator doctrine, organization, and brutal training methods
-
Detailed breakdowns of their unique armor, weapons, and specialized hunter-killer tactics
-
The theology and scripture of Absolutionism, their fanatical religion centered on the Book of Absolution
-
Hierarchy, rituals, and the twisted philosophy that drives their holy war against Invicta
-
Character dossiers, campaign records, and the hidden truths behind their most infamous operations
Written in the same grimdark, unflinching style as the main series and Codex Ferrum, this is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the enemy that hunts the Forge from the darkness.
This is a Living Codex. New sections, entries, and updates will be added regularly as the story and lore expand. All buyers receive lifetime access to every future version.
If you want to truly know the enemy; their faith, their fury, and the Absolution they seek to impose upon the galaxy, this is your key.
Codex Absolutionis, For those who wish to understand the blade that seeks the Forge’s heart.
Part I - The Living Vessel
(The Physiology and Divine Purpose of the Faithful)
Chapter 1 – Physiology of the Venators
The Venator is not born; he is chosen. From among the sons of men, the Absolute selects those whose blood already bears the mark of potential; broad frames, accelerated growth, resilient constitution, unyielding will. These are taken in childhood, inducted into the academies, and reforged through ritual, discipline, and augmentation until they stand as living weapons against the possessed.
Baseline Selection
Candidates are hand-picked for superior genetics:
-
Exceptional height potential (final adult range 6'5"–7'5" for standard ranks).
-
Dense bone structure and fast-twitch muscle fibers.
-
High pain tolerance and accelerated healing response.
-
Mental resilience — the ability to endure indoctrination without fracture.
Augmentation Progression by Rank
Every elevation brings greater alteration of the flesh. The higher the rank, the less human the form, the more godlike the presence.
-
Initiates & Acolytes — Minimal cybernetics (reflex boosters, pain-dampeners, basic ocular overlays). Average height 6'5"–6'9". Strength and speed exceed normal men but fall short of Vardengard instinct.
-
Knights — Reinforced skeleton, cybernetic musculature, redundant organs, full neural combat link. Height 6'9"–7'3". Built to rival Vardengard endurance, though lacking raw predatory senses.
-
Captains & Admirals — Near-constant augmentation cycles. Height 9'0"–10'0". Living avatars of authority, executioners who silence armies with a glance.
-
Priests & Archbishops — Augments attuned to ritual combat and ceremonial presence. Height matches Palatines/Lieutenants (10'0"–14'0" [never 13]). Voice modulation implants allow them to speak with divine resonance.
-
Cardinals — Monstrous stature (14'0"–16'0”). Grotesque augmentation bordering on the sublime, each one a living idol of cruelty and piety.
Senses & Perception
Venators lack the mythic acuity of Vardengard (no scent-reading of sin, no low-light predatory vision), but their augments bring near-parity in combat utility:
-
Ocular overlays for enhanced targeting and low-light.
-
Auditory implants for extended range and frequency detection.
-
Neural regulators for accelerated reflexes and pain suppression.
-
Where Vardengard smell betrayal, Venators enforce obedience through iron decree.
“The Venator does not need to sense what you are. He will make you what he commands you to be.”
— From The Words of Absolution
Chapter 2 – Physiology of the Priestesses
The Priestesses are the gentle hands that sustain the Order when the blades are sheathed.
They are chosen from among the daughters of the faithful, small, frail in body, yet unbreakable in will.
Their stature rarely exceeds 5'0"–5'4".
Their frames are delicate, their strength subtle, yet they carry the fire in their hearts.
Divine Purpose
They are non-combatants.
They bear no weapon.
They wear no armor.
Their role is sacred service:
-
Tending altars and keeping the flames clean.
-
Polishing armor so the warriors reflect the light of the Absolute.
-
Preparing vestments and meals for the higher ranks.
-
Assisting physicians in binding wounds and soothing the dying.
-
Maintaining the purity of the chapels and cloisters.
Protection Doctrine
To harm a Priestess is the gravest blasphemy, punishable by immediate and merciless purging.
Every Knight, Captain, Priest, Archbishop, and Cardinal knows:
the frail hands that tend the altar are more precious than their own lives.
They are guarded as sacred relics.
They are cherished as proof that even the weakest vessel can serve the Absolute with unbreakable devotion.
Chapter 3 – Physiology of the Vardengard (Venator Strain)
The Vardengard kept by the Venators are not warriors. They are vessels, cages of synthetic flesh trapping ancient demons. Taken from the Order’s kennels or captured from Invictan packs, they are the first pick for genetic superiority. Their bodies are near-perfect: 6'0"–7'0", dense muscle, hyper-acute senses, predatory reflexes.
Senses
Their perception is mythic:
-
Smell: Detect emotion, arousal, betrayal, disease, even lies by scent shift.
-
Hearing: Ultrasensitive; high-frequency alarms once drove them to self-mutilation.
-
Sight: Low-light acuity, motion tracking like hawks, faint heat flickers.
-
Touch: Hyper-reactive; vibrations felt through the ground.
-
Taste: Chemical analysis through the tongue.
The Two Castes
-
Standard — Retain speech, thought, autonomy (bent to worship).
-
Hounds — Fully broken: feral, mute, starving ghouls kept in harnesses and cages.
Chapter 4 – The Hounds
The Hounds are the disobedient made useful. Mind and will shattered through prolonged exorcism. Reduced to hunger and obedience. Muzzled, blindfolded, leashed, bound in harnesses. Kept in stacked cages too small to stand. Fed bone broth twice weekly. Unleashed only when the Absolute’s wrath demands it.
They are the living proof that redemption can be forced, or that the vessel can serve even when the soul is gone.
Let the vessels be kept.
Let the demons be subdued.
Let the Order endure.
Chapter 5 – Daily Life, Indoctrination, and the Monastic-Military Path
The life of a Venator is not lived; it is offered. Every hour is measured, every breath is measured, every thought is measured against the Words of Absolution. There is no idle moment, no private desire, no unguarded glance. The body is the vessel. The vessel is the temple. The temple belongs to the Absolute alone.
The Cathedral-Academy – Cradle of the Chosen
From the moment of selection, the boy is taken from his family and brought to the Cathedral-Academy, towering basilicas of black stone and crimson glass, where the air is thick with incense and the echo of steel on steel. Here he is stripped of name, of past, of possession. He is given only the black initiate’s robe, the iron cross, and the knowledge that his life now belongs to the Absolute.
Celibacy & the Sacred Duty of Seed
The Venators are bound by the vow of celibacy. No Venator may lie with woman or man. Lust is corruption of the divine vessel. Desire is the serpent’s whisper. The body is consecrated to war and purification alone. This is the law, and it is absolute.
Yet the Absolute demands continuity. The line must not end with the faithful. The fire must not gutter for lack of fuel. Therefore the Archbishops and Cardinals, in their wisdom, have decreed a sacred exception, not a breaking of celibacy, but a fulfillment of divine purpose.
The Rite of Sacred Extraction
When a Priest or Captain has proven himself worthy, through years of flawless obedience, unyielding combat record, and purity of soul, he is summoned before the Council of Cardinals.
In a sealed chamber within the Cathedral, under the gaze of the highest Priests and the presence of the Absolute’s sigil, his seed is extracted by sanctified means. No carnal act occurs. No flesh touches flesh. The process is clinical, reverent, and performed with prayer. The vessel is not defiled; the act is not sin. It is offering.
The Selection of Mothers
The seed is carried to hand-selected women of proven Absolutionist lineage, devout daughters of the faith, chosen for their health, piety, and genetic purity. These women are not Venators, nor are they Priestesses. They are the quiet bearers, wives of loyal Praevecti Absolutionists or consecrated virgins who have taken private vows of service to the Order. They live in protected enclaves near the Cathedral, tended by Priestesses, honored as vessels of the future flame.
The Birth & Selection
When the child is born, the infant is examined by the Priests. By divine decree and sanctified medical rite, only male children are taken into the Order. Female children remain with their mothers, raised in the faith, and may one day become Priestesses or faithful wives of the Order’s servants. The male infants are carried to the Crèche of the Chosen within the Cathedral, where they are raised from the cradle in the ways of the Venators, taught scripture before they can walk, trained in discipline before they can speak full sentences, forged into warriors before they reach manhood.
The Rite of Sacred Extraction
By decree of the Archbishops and Cardinals, Priests and Captains (Father-Priest and Father-Captain) are selected for the Rite of Sacred Extraction. When a Priest or Captain has proven himself worthy, through years of flawless obedience, unyielding combat record, and purity of soul, he is summoned before the Council.

This is not procreation of the flesh. This is continuation of the flame. The seed of the worthy is not wasted on earthly desire. It is given to the Absolute, purified through the mothers, and returned as new vessels — stronger, cleaner, more obedient than the last generation.
Each new cohort of Venators is better than the one before. Their blood is refined. Their will is tempered. Their faith is absolute.
The God’s Echo Rite
Ambitious Venators who seek higher rank undergo the God’s Echo. They ingest a sacred alchemical brew and enter a meditative trance. In the trance, they confront their sins, their doubts, their hidden impurities. They commune with the Absolute. Those who survive return changed; reverent, purified, certain of their divine mission. Those who do not survive are said to have been claimed by the demon within.

Rank & Hierarchy
Initiates
Title: Brother-Initiate
The youngest of the Venators, no longer children, only just adults. They are the raw iron, still being shaped. Their purpose is singular: to learn, to serve, to suffer without complaint. They follow Knights like shadows, never entering real combat. They clean, they carry, they kneel, they recite. Every mistake is corrected with lash or silence. Every success is met with the Priest’s nod, nothing more.
Acolytes
Title: Brother-Acolyte
One step above the Initiates, still learning, but now permitted to taste the edge of war. They accompany full Venators into real combat, never leading, always watching. Their first kill of a Vardengard or possessed is marked by ceremonial branding, the first true scar of service. They are tested in blood, yet still under strict supervision. They are the bridge between boy and blade.
Knights
Title: Brother-Knight
The common soldier, zealous, merciless, devout. The backbone of every Chapter. They are the first to charge, the last to retreat. They carry the blade in the name of the Absolute. Their lives are war, prayer, and obedience.
Inquisitors
Title: Brother-Inquisitor
Special operatives of espionage and theology. Secretive, silent, deadly. They answer directly to Captains. They infiltrate, interrogate, spy, snipe. They carry the Sigil Blade, engraved with scripture, burns with divine energy when striking the impure. They are the eyes in the dark, the whisper that brings judgment.
Redeemers
Title: Brother-Redeemer
Elite close-combat specialists who operate alone or in pairs. Deployed to cleanse Vardengard nests and strongholds. Most missions are fatal, yet they go willingly, assured of heaven. They are the martyrs who volunteer for death so others may live.
Exorcists
Title: Brother-Exorcist
Heavy infantry wielding sanctified flamers and arc cannons. They work alongside Knights, assisting Captains and Priests in ritual exorcisms. Their armor is sealed, adorned with scripture scrolls and relics. They chant hymns mid-battle to maintain spiritual focus. They burn out demons and cleanse technology.
Palatines
Title: Brother-Palatine
Field commanders and battlefield preachers. Answer to Lieutenants and act as their assistants. Keep morale high, relay commands, keep Knights in order. They deliver sermons through vox-casters embedded in armor. They are the voice that steadies the line.
Lieutenants
Title: Brother-Lieutenant
Tactical extensions of Captains. Relay orders, take command when the Captain is not present. In charge of training units and keeping everyone in peak condition. Carry the company sigil-banner, a sacred rallying point.
Captains
Title: Father-Captain
The generals of the military. Oversee their entire Chapter, an army unto itself. Ensure condition, training, discipline. Lead in combat. Absolute authority, tactical and moral. Their word is scripture within their command.
Admirals
Title: Lord Admiral
High warlords of the stars. They orchestrate entire fleets across the void, enforce celestial law, and command multiple Chapters at once. They are responsible for the strategic direction of crusades, the deployment of Sunbringers and Nightbanes, the coordination of planetary assaults, and the enforcement of divine order across entire sectors. While Captains command armies on the ground, Admirals command the heavens themselves, their fleets are the wings of the Absolute’s wrath. They answer only to the Cardinals and the Council.
Priests
Title: Father-Priest
Act as advisors to Captains. Train young officers to become Captains. Strategic and spiritual counsel. Handle duties in the Church and in combat. Often fill the role of Captain when necessary. Relay orders from Archbishops and Cardinals to the Captains. They are the bridge between the divine and the blade.
Archbishops
Title: His Eminence the Archbishop
Spiritual commanders over entire battalions. Guide Priests, interpret divine prophecy. Serve as mouthpieces for the Cardinals. Clad in ornate robes and ancient armor. Walking cathedrals of faith.
Cardinals
Title: His Holiness the Cardinal
The inner circle, strategists and sacred judges. Reside within the sacred halls of the Pantheon of God. Their edicts shape wars. Their words are law. Few see them. Fewer still speak to them. They act in concert with the Council to preserve divine order throughout the stars.
The Priestesses
Title: Sister-Priestess
The quiet heart of the Order. Frailer than their brothers, augmented not for war but for endurance in service. They tend altars, polish armor, prepare meals, bind wounds, sing hymns. They are cherished, guarded, revered, living sanctity that tempers the unrelenting fire of the warriors.
Let the chain be kept. Let the ranks be honored. Let the Absolute’s will be done through every link.
The vessel is the temple. The temple belongs to Him alone.
